Feb – Mar 2017 Activity Report
-JTEF and other partners wrote a petition letter to WWF-Japan to ask them to support the position of closing Japan’s domestic ivory market. <link>

-The Iriomote Wild Cat Working Group released the 2016 data collected from all the Sightings and Car speed surveys taken over the year. <link>
-British International School hosted JTEF speaker Takako Sato on March 1, with 50 kids attending between grades 9-K. The younger grade kids played the Tiger board games and cut photos for supporting JTEF’s Earth Day activities in April.
Upcoming Events
April 15 is Iriomote Wild Cat Day.
JTEF will host a mini-symposium about emerging threats to the survival of the cat in the wild. There were 7 wild cats run over and locals have started to slow down in their average speed, however on the contrary the rental cars have started to speed up. Therefore JTEF created an awareness campaign to promote driving slow on Iriomote. The campaign will last for one month as a pilot project.
April 22 & 23
We will set up a booth at the Yoyogi Park Annual Earth Day event sharing our vision for a future where wildlife and humans live in harmony. We will educate people about the status of endangered animas and encourage them to take action by crafting original message magnets that support our work.
April 23, Sunday at Earth day - Volunteers Needed!

May 27
JTEF will have its annual Charity Party at Ebisu Beer Garden starting from 6pm. Please let us know of your interest in attending! The link for the event is here <link>
